The Challenge

Cap Specialty is a growing, national specialty insurance provider for small and mid-sized businesses across the U.S., with its headquarters in Madison, WI. The company was running out of space due to its quick growth, and its layout of tall, brown cube farms was outdated, uninspiring, and didn’t speak to its culture. Leadership wanted to consolidate its office footprint from two floors to one floor to reduce operation costs. In a nutshell, the challenge was to transform the workplace to foster greater collaboration and attract a new generation of talent. The client strived to have the look and feel of a contemporaneous office design.

The Solution

The team at Lerdahl partnered with Cap Specialty stakeholders and leadership, listening to their needs and working to ensure the design solution fit their objectives and budget. The Lerdahl design team created a layout with greater workstation density, more collaboration spaces, and improved sightlines. Lerdahl used the following products: Kimball Xsite, lounge furniture, conference docks, booths, and chairs. Nucraft custom boardroom tables, Furniture Lab tables, and National Mix-It Chairs.

Lerdahl partnered over the three-month project with general contractor Ideal Builders, commercial real estate investment trust Artis REIT, and Destree Architecture & Design for detailed drawings, demolition, and construction.
